Happy Magic Fountain Day!

Hello peoples,

So Splendour is done for another year. And what a Splendour it was. Best line up we had seen in a long time. Highlights for us were The Strokes (of course), LCD Soundsystem, Goldfrapp, Last Dinosaurs, Jinja Safari, Passion Pit, and whoever it was that DJed in that tent thing and played “Love is the Drug” by Roxy Music. Lovely… Everything we own is covered in dirt.

Thank you to all who came to see us instead of Florence and the Machine and Paul Kelly. Very kind. Oh yes and thanks to all who saw us the weekend before at On the Brightside festival in Perth. And thanks to the weather gods who smiled upon us all.

So what now? The Magic Fountain EP goes on sale TODAY. The release contains the song, two blistering remixes, a special live track and a Parlez Vous remix. Tasty little pre-album morsel to sink your teeth into.

The EP and the accompanying clip are available on iTunes here and Waterfront here and at record stores everywhere.

Also there is the Magic Fountain video game, which is a tour de force of complex game play and state-of-the-art SFX…Well, not really but it’s pretty addictive. Get in the top two and you win some special prizes. We announce the winner on MONDAY. Tops.

And the tour starts next week! Most of it is sold out so THANK YOU. We look forward to seeing all your faces again.

Ta ta,

AVS

MAGIC FOUNTAIN TOUR!

People people people,

This morning you may have heard our brand new track MAGIC FOUNTAIN on triple j radio. Hopefully you’ll be hearing it a little/lot more. It is a tasty little morsel. We’ll be packaging it with a bunch of cool stuff - remixes, a live track and so forth and releasing it on 6th August. You can pre-order it now (and score a free Magic Fountain ringtone) if you like, by sending an SMS with your email address to 1995 5235.

The video clip is out in a few days… It’s the story of a mad inventor and his quest for rebirth. Featuring the coolest jacket since Michael Jackson’s BAD. Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter and you will see it.

As for the album…it is coming. We are highly impractical people with no sense of time, thus we have been constantly recording and keep coming up with new ideas. It will come soonish, possibly early 2011…You will know when we will know! At exactly the same time! Kapow!

In the meantime we will be TOURING again! The dates are below. Holy moly!

Oh, and this time we will be supported by our friends in electro pop TIM AND JEAN and the mischievous indie delights of JINJA SAFARI (East Coast only).

Tickets go on sale THIS THURSDAY you mofos. So buy them quick before they all disappear.

Head over to www.magicfountain.net to hear the track and for more information on all of the above, as well as a veeeeery addictive game that involves zapping people and hitting things. If you are particularly adept at those sorts of activities, you may win a prize.

Thanking you kindly and forever indebted to you all,

AVS

**Requests to 19955235 charged at $3.00 per message sent. You will receive a download link to a ringtone immediately via SMS. Data/GPRS charges may apply to download the ringtone. Check you carrier contract for your pricing details. Helpline 1300464866. 5th Finger Pty Ltd

BELATED TOUR BLOG!

Hello!

So we are currently on an airplane somewhere in Russian airspace, heading for Sydney via Hong Kong. Seems like a better time than any to write down the events of the last three weeks abroad.

Art vs Science’s first international tour.

Here goes:

We played in Los Angeles, USA, about 24 days ago now. It was swell. One of the shows was with our friends the Philadelphia Grand Jury in a place called Whiskey A Go Go’s. Some people in the crowd knew the words to ‘Flippers’ (or maybe they just figured it out on the spot? Not too complicated). West Hollywood was all the things the television told us it would be. Bright. Loud. Big. But also kind of friendly in that proud shiny American way.

[Our name up in lights at Whiskey A Go Go’s]

[Playing Musexpo in LA]

The rest of our time was spent driving around in an oversized American van, visiting the sights etc. We checked out the planetarium show at this giant observatory up in the Hollywood hills. Awesome. Also rode the Jurassic Park and Mummy Rides at Universal studios. Plus we saw the guy who plays Boris the Bullet Dodger in Snatch at this Latin music night. He was DRUNK.

[The American size van]

[Jurassic Park: The Ride]

After five days in LA we jetted on over to London, circumventing that unpronounceable volcano, and landing right in the heart of the city in which a man called Jack the Ripper killed numerous prostitutes around a hundred years ago or something. Not that that’s relevant. Its does have a little more to it than that. Good city.

People were nice. Real nice. This fellow called Ant Forbes drove us around in a giant van to the shows we need to play.

We took a tour bus around London and asked the guy every single question about everything. And he knew everything. He was like the dad that knows everything and embarrasses you in front of your friends when you’re thirteen by telling them all about Elizabethan literature.

Anyways, I suppose I should talk about the shows? And in chronological order? Okay go:

We played two shows (one for a big radio station over here called XFM) on the first day at this swell street festival called the Camden Crawl. Lots of people packed into these little (and sometimes big) English pubs listening to loud dance music in the middle of the day. So much fun. Great experience.

Later we saw Temper Trap wow crowds at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Caught the London Underground tube and felt very cultured.

We started singing an improvised song along with this big group of Spanish girls on the train one night and ended up having a huge dance off. I think the lyrics to the song were “party party party party party” (repeated INFINITELY). All the other commuters were all the happier for it.

Later that week we played the best show so far at this wack venue called Koko in Camden. Yes, yes, it was fun. There were maybe 1,200 people packed into this theatre style place. Crazy light show. Big loud sounds. Soooooo good! Again we played with the Philly Jays who kicked ass despite guitars not working a lot. But no matter! Then we all stayed up very late and met many fine people. And Berkfinger broke Dan Mac’s watch.

[Dressing room at Koko]

[Club NME at Koko]

I do remember at one point (the sun had come up by this stage) we were playing charades in the street. I challenge you all to do the movie “Free Willy” without referencing your genitals. Try it.

*BREATH*

A few days after this adventure we played at Water Rats in Kings Cross (London), then we were off at 6am in the morning to play PARIS the following night.

Yes, yes, make all the jokes you will about ‘Parlez Vous Francais?’

It did feel a little strange: “Hello all you French speaking people from France! Do you speak French?” Dan Mac did quite well to converse with some bemused punters. He’s sure that he said something in French to them, just not quite sure what. Although they all smiled and clapped and danced. Super.

After a night (and morning) of frivolity with some nutty French locals we drove back under the English Channel to BRIGHTON! Home of Fatboy Slim! Who has been spinning Parlez Vous Francais? in his DJ sets recently. Nuts. The gig was at this huuuuuuge street festival called the Great Escape Festival with Groove Armada.

Before the show we managed to see our friends Bluejuice play down by the beach in between sessions on the roller coasters on the local pier. The actual gig went swimmingly. Made lots of new friends. And yes, that was the very last night of our three-week tour.

[Classic]

We played to a hell of a lot of people, met some nutters and some absolute winners, all of whom I know we would give it all to see again.

It’s times like these I wish that I had one of those tape recorders strapped to my chest a la Hunter S. Thompson, so that we could relieve the madness whenever we wished. But I suppose madness is best relegated to the archives of the mind, only to rear its head in dreams and fleeting thoughts.

Yes, we will go back.

Thanks for reading. Stay tuned. We have new music coming to your ears very soon.

Love,

Dan W

Happy new year etc!

Hello all,

Happy New Year yes yes yes.

Art vs Science would like to write to YOU, to thank YOU for supporting us over 2009.
It was a stellar year for us.

ARIA nominations, festivals, tours, film clips, new hats…

We thank all of you that bought a CD (or downloaded it for free). We thank all of you that came to a show and made them such awesome experiences for us. Some of you brought your own inflatable penguins. Some of you dressed as mimes. Some of you made your own T-shirts…. You’re all fine people.

In other news, we are currently finishing off writing for our debut album. Yes. The album itself looks like it may come out around June or July. Sweet. Stay tuned for the facts as they come.

Lastly but not leastly, voting for Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown closes THIS SUNDAY. So if you haven’t voted already, pretty please do so and cast a thought for one of our three eligible songs (Parlez-Vous, Friend In The Field, Hollywood). Maybe Parlez Vous is your favourite? Maybe not? Bah.

Anyways, thanks once again. We look forward to a 2010 with you all.
